Sorare is about to create fantasy game NFTs for Flamengo players, reveals the club to CPI das Cryptocurrencies

A  Sorare, a fantasy game developer , is about to launch collectibles in the form of non-fungible tokens ( NFTs ) with Flamengo's brand and main players that can be used in "SO5 Fantasy", a fantasy game by Sorare, or exchanged between users . 

 

 

The information was revealed by Flamengo itself in a  letter  of the last day of July 11, made available this Thursday (27) by the Chamber of Deputies. The document is a response by Clube de Regatas do Flamengo to a request made by the CPI of Piramides Financeiras, a  CPI of Cryptocurrencies , established on June 13th.

 

The partnership with Sorare was the most recent of the three contracts signed by the team with companies linked to the cryptocurrency market. According to Flamengo, the club has no relationship with the core activities of the companies and the contracts only fall under the licensing of the brand, in addition to Flamengo's collaboration in  "cooperate with the disclosure of said companies and cryptoassets."  

 

 

 

In the official letter, the club from Rio de Janeiro highlights the content of application 11/2023, in which the Board of the Commission highlights the ““tenuous relationship between companies in the crypto market with the sports world, especially football”, in addition to detailing the three contracts of the club, focused on brand licensing and player image through non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and fan tokens.

 

The first contract reported by the Gávea team was signed in 2021 with Socios Services Limited, Socios.com, a sports fan token platform for the launch of MENGO within the platform.

 

 

To the parliamentarians, Flamengo explained that the fan token grants the “possibility for fans to participate in votes related to some activities of FLAMENGO and its professional teams of some sports  and that MENGO “is classified within the species of ' utility tokens', which do not have the utility of a means of payment, are crypto assets directed to a specific function, that is, the function of promoting the connection between fans with their respective teams.” 

 

Flamengo, which also signed a contract in July 2022 with the company  Futster Desenvolvimento de Jogo LTDA for “development of 'virtual cards'  with the representation of the image of the main players of FLAMENGO (NFT-Futster), to be used in an online game” on the Futster platform.
