Game studio Eden Games, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, has launched the beta for Cosmic Royale, a Web3 party royale kart racing game.

Eden Games is know for racing titles like Gear.Club and V-Rally. Now it is launching Cosmic Royale as part of Animoca’s Motorverse, a Web3 ecosystem for digital vehicle ownership and motorsport culture.

Eden Games brings its expertise to Web3 gaming with Cosmic Royale, marking the studio’s first game developed from start to finish with blockchain integration. Throughout its history the studio has sold over 15 million game boxes, achieved more than 75 million app downloads, and published 17 games.

Notable Eden Games successes include Test Drive Unlimited 1 and 2, which have claimed numerous awards, Gear.Club, which sold over 2 million units, and F1 Mobile Racing, which garnered 53 million downloads on Google Play and the Apple Store.

Cosmic Royale’s gameplay features 40-player matches with multiple rounds of racing and obstacle navigation and culminates in a survival finale. The core gameplay revolves around the Cosmic Tournament, a head-to-head multiplayer event infusing kart racing with a “party royale” style objective of emerging as the sole winner among all contestants.

Cosmic Royale is the first ground-up Web3 game from Eden Games.

To win the Cosmic Tournament, players will have to race through several rounds, qualifying for successive races until only one contestant remains.

For the beta of Cosmic Royale, Eden Games has partnered with Animoca’s Mocaverse, granting access to the game to all Moca ID holders—a community of approximately one million users, making this a significant and wide-reaching beta launch in the Web3 gaming space.

All Moca ID holders can participate in the beta, regardless of whether they own a Mocaverse PFP. However, Mocaverse PFP owners have the unique opportunity of using their PFP as their in-game driver.

During the Cosmic Royale beta, high-scoring players will earn Realm Points (RP), which are loyalty points for Moca ID holders. Users can deposit their RP on the Mocaverse platform to multiply them. By depositing certain amounts of RP every day, players can participate in three leaderboards, and if they manage to rank on one of them, their RP rewards will be multiplied. These rewards will be later converted into MOCA Coin, an omni-chain token launched by the MOCA Foundation.

“We’re tremendously excited to finally unveil Cosmic Royale and welcome hundreds of thousands of players to participate in the Cosmic Tournament and earn exciting rewards,” said David Nadal, creative director at Eden Games, in a statement. “Better yet, each player can truly personalize their experience by importing their custom drivers and karts thanks to our collaboration with various PFP collections, making each racer’s story unique and memorable.”

While the beta of Cosmic Royale is accessible only to Moca ID holders via the Cosmic Royale website, the full launch version of Cosmic Royale in the second quarter of 2024 will be open to all players, regardless of whether they own specific NFTs or fungible tokens and will be free to play on the Epic Games Store.

Kenneth Shek, project lead for Mocaverse, said in a statement, “Mocaverse was built to unite players across the world, offering them a unified, inclusive, and diverse gaming ecosystem. Our collaboration with Eden Games is a great example of the benefits that Web3-native interoperability is enabling, and we are thrilled to invite hundreds of thousands of Moca ID holders to the exciting world of Cosmic Royale.”
