Web3 games guild YGG recently dropped a trailer for the forthcoming Metaverse Filipino Worker film, which will premiere during the the YGG Play Summit event in Manila on 20th November 2024.

The film has been directed by web3 venture Emfarsis director Leah Callon-Butler.

Featuring key members from the YGG Pilipinas community, the 5-part series explores how Filipinos have adopted to and embraced web3 as a new way to make a living. Incepted in 2021, Callon-Butler explains “the concept of the MFW has evolved from players grinding for in-game tokens to highly skilled professionals shaping the global decentralized economy.”

As for Callon-Butler, she previously wrote and narrated the documentary Play-to-Earn, which was based on an article she wrote about a young family in Nueva Ecija in Manila.

Set in the early days of blockchain games, it explored how the family members took it in turns to play Axie Infinity “up to 20 hours per day” in return for rewards.

Metaverse Filipino Worker will premiere at SM Aura Premier cinema 20th November 2024.
