Space Nation launches OIK token
US/China developer Space Nation has launched its ecosystem token OIK, which powers its Space Nation IP game series.
Although its most prominent game is space-themed PC MMORPG Space Nation Online, OIK utilities are not limited to this title. Additionally, the idea is that the token will not affect any economic activities in any of the games, according to its whitepaper.
Instead, OIK serves as an incentive for users to engage with all “Space Nation Online IP subsidiary games, community, governance, and more”.
As for its specific use cases, OIK will be the main token used for trading on the Space Nation Marketplace, enabling users to buy and sell various in-game NFTs. It will also grant DAO governance, offer staking benefits, and eligibility to airdrops and other rewards.
Its total supply is 1 billion, of which 44% is allocated to players engaging with Space Nation games. It will gradually unlock over the next ten years.
At the time of token launch, OIK will be rewarded to players who have participated in the soft launch of Space Nation Online, with allocations based on their contributions recorded through the Proof of Contribution system. After this, as the new season begins, OIK will be distributed on a weekly basis, initially to Space Nation Online players based on the POC system, which tracks users’ activities such as gameplay, achievements, NFT ownership, and staking.
Space Nation Online is deployed on Immutable zkEVM, and the OIK token has launched on Ethereum with the ability to bridge it to Immutable zkEVM.
In related news, Space Nation recently announced $2.5 million in game revenue from Space Nation Online since its soft launch in October 2024. This number excludes NFT revenue, token pre-sales or node sales. Meanwhile, its ARPPU is $217.
