Esports platform Coliseum launches $2 million fund

In the year following their decision to drop blockchain, the founders of blockchain chess project Immortal Game have been working on Coliseum.

It’s an esport tournament platform, which handles both web2 and web3 games, using blockchain features.

And now it’s looking to get more projects involved with the launch of a $2 million investment fund.

This will invest up to $250,000 in projects ranging from games to guilds, with the most promising being onboarded to the Coliseum platform.

“Our $2 million fund is more than just capital, it’s a gateway to growth,” said CEO Thomas Zaepffel.

“By combining financial support with access to our community and expertise, we’re empowering the next generation of web3 gaming leaders to build, scale, and succeed.”

Immortal Game raised around $16 million in 2022, on the promise of making a blockchain-enabled chess platform, but announced it was dropping blockchain features for the game in late 2023. However, it pivoted, taking its tech and building out an entire blockchain-based platform, which supports games such as Valorant, Counter-Strike, League of Legends and Immortal Games.
