Six web3 games now announced for consoles
While Mythical Games’ inaugural web3 PC game Blankos Block Party planned to release on console (and still may do), it took until October 2024 until the first blockchain game was to be released on console.
This was Gunzilla Games’ extraction shooter Off The Grid and its release on Xbox Series X/S and early access via Playstation 5.
But in the almost six months since, the pace of blockchain-enabled games expanding to Xbox and/or Playstation has picked up notably.
Shortly after Off The Grid’s Xbox launch, Moonray Studios unveiled it’s also expanding to console, bringing its multiplayer battle arena game Moonray to PS5. In February 2025, the developer said the game was preparing to launch on Xbox sometime in 2025 too.
Since then, four additional web3 games have announced console expansions.
AI-powered action shooter My Pet Hooligan from AMGI and horror FPS The Bornless from Cathedral Studios are both coming to Xbox.
More recently, social crafting MMO Paradise Tycoon from Empires Not Vampires has announced it’s signed a deal with game publisher Bonus Stage to bring its mobile title to “gaming consoles”. Bonus Stage has previously published games for PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.
In a more specific announcement, web3 game developer Bisonic unveiled its pixel-art fantasy MMORPG Forgotten Runiverse is coming to all three major consoles, including Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox.
