Jurassic World coming to The Sandbox
The Sandbox has signed a multi-year deal with Universal Products & Experiences and Amblin Entertainment to bring the Jurassic World franchise into The Sandbox.
The inaugural experience kicking off the partnership will be Jurassic World: Dinosaur Preserve, which will roll out in conjunction with The Sandbox’s forthcoming expansion and Alpha Season 5 in March 2025.
In terms of the gameplay, Jurassic World: Dinosaur Preserve is set in a dinosaur sanctuary in Arizona, where players take on the role of members of a dinosaur protection group. As such they will be keeping the facilities operating smoothly by exploring, collecting, and completing various quests.
As part of the experience, a limited-quantity dinosaur egg collection will be released, which enables players to hatch and evolve dinosaur species of varying rarities. Every trip to the sanctuary offers a new experience and challenges.
In addition to gameplay, the partnership also entails exclusive, limited-edition Jurassic World avatar collectibles including playable characters, dinosaurs, and wearables.
Following the release of Alpha Season 5, in the beginning of April, players will also be able to buy LAND in The Sandbox and create their own Jurassic World experiences. Premium LAND buyers in the Jurassic neighborhood will also receive a creator asset pack including dinosaurs and props.
“Who hasn’t been fascinated by dinosaurs since they were a kid? Now, you can explore experiences in The Sandbox alongside them, or even create your own adventures inspired by those from Jurassic World,” commented The Sandbox co-founder and COO Sebastien Borget.
“I’m sure these creatures that capture so much of our imagination will leave a giant footprint in the virtual world.”
The collaboration is unveiled as the new film, Jurassic World Rebirth, is preparing for its release in July 2025.
