Aavegotchi rolls out mainnet for its game-centric Geist blockchain
Pixelcraft Studios’ gaming ecosystem Aavegotchi has launched the mainnet for Geist, its self-styled “members-only” blockchain.
Geist is built using Arbitrum’s Orbit tech but settles its transactions on the Base L2, also using Alchemy for its rollups. In this way, it says it can offer sub-second latency with minimal fees.
As part of the launch, users can now mint the MAINNET NFT, which marks the first piece in the Geist Milestones art collection. By becoming a member, users can also create their own Geist ID.
Previously running on Polygon, with its original NFTs on Ethereum, it will be possible to migrate Aavegotchi assets to Geist starting in November, although its NFT marketplace Aavegotchi Baazaar will still support assets on Polygon.
Other upcoming releases include a rewards program, a cross-game GOTCHI points system, and migration of the Aavegotchi Gaming Console.
In terms of games, it’s looking to roll out new titles including Rektless, as well as the soft launch of Gotchiverse 3D. Being an open-source protocol, Pixelcraft is also continuing to form partnerships with other web3 game developers, including those looking to build on its new Geist blockchain.
