Axie Infinity’s evolution event The Wings of Nightmare starting 21st November
Going live on 21st November, The Wings of Nightmare offers a time-limited opportunity for Axie holders to evolve certain axie body parts into Nightmare parts and/or bodies. In order to evolve, one of 24 specific base parts are necessary.
Among the benefits of evolving Nightmare parts is becoming part of the Nightmare Collection, something which makes them eligible for Fortune Slips. This lets holders transform a regular Axie into a collectible Axie through the Nightmare Event. Getting a Nightmare part can also increase the Axie’s rarity, due to a capped supply of 39,000.
Other benefits include Nightmare collectible chests, Runes and Charm Boxes, which users can acquire by morphing up to 3 parts.
The release of Nightmare parts will also be integrated in Axie Homeland, where they’ll feature their own evolved rating and combat systems.
Also worth noting is that only 1,500 Nightmare Bodies can exist at once, so devolution is necessary. For instance, a user can devolve a Stage 2 Part for a chance to evolve into a Nightmare Stage 2 Part. Each part devolution costs one Dark Flame. This resource can either be acquired in the Forge, or be bought through Sky Mavis’ marketplace.
To mark the launch of The Wings of Nightmare collection, Axie Infinity is also kicking off its most generous reward event yet, by offering to buy back the first axie with 6 out of 6 Nightmare Parts and a Nightmare Body for 6 ETH ($18,700). Apart from that, the prize pool includes 1 Mystic Axie, 10 Origin Axies, and over 3,000 AXS. These prizes will be awarded exclusively to raffle winners among Nightmare Axie holders. The number of raffle tickets will be based on the number of Nightmare collectibles they own.
More broadly, the release is said to build on Sky Mavis’ vision of making Axies more personal, by creating a deeper bond between holders and their Axies. To that end, the developer recently announced Axie Pals, an AI-powered Google Chrome extension bringing Tamagotchi-style features to your the Axie characters.
