Pixel Vault integrates Horizen’s zkVerify for provably fair random functions

Building fair systems for random number generation in games, Horizen Labs has announced its zero-knowledge proof verification layer zkVerify will be integrated by web3 game studio Pixel Vault.

More specifically, Pixel Vault will utilize zkVerify’s Verifiable Random Functions (VRF), a cryptographic tool that generates random numbers in a way that is both unpredictable and provable. Keeping manipulation at bay, the tool improves player trust and strengthens the credibility of web3 gaming.

By incorporating zkVerify’s VRF-based game mechanics, Pixel Vault can guarantee that all random elements, from matchmaking to event triggering, are both transparent and tamper-proof in its already existing games such as strategic auto-battler Play Battle Plan.

Some of the key use cases of zk-powered VRF in games include:

• VRFs generate random but verifiable seeds for creating game content such as landscapes, dungeons, and entire game worlds.
• In digital card games, VRFs ensure that deck shuffling is truly random and transparent.
• NPC actions and dialogue choices can be driven by random, verifiable VRF outcomes, making interactions more dynamic and unpredictable.
• VRF-generated numbers can trigger random in-game events or encounters, enhancing gameplay unpredictability.
• In games with combat mechanics, VRFs determine the likelihood of critical hits and special effects, ensuring randomness that is fair and unbiased.
