G7 mainnet goes live

Adding to the deluge of web3 gaming infrastructure, Game7 has launched its G7 Network mainnet.

In the pursuit of supporting the “most ambitious onchain games and economies”, the G7 Network is custom built for web3 gaming needs offering high-throughput to low costs.

Originally it came about due to increasing demand on the G7 Portal, which was powered by zkSync. With millions of transactions, gas got costly and bandwidth demand high, resulting in the team wanting to build its own gaming optimized infrastructure. For this, it used the Ethereum-compatible Arbitrum Orbit tech stack.

Following months of running its testnet, which saw over 6 million transactions processed and 1,400 contracts deployed, G7 is now rolling out its mainnet in stages, with the first being a complete migration of 600,000 user accounts including identity and avatars.

Stage two includes working with its network partners such as Arbitrum, Conduit, Forte, and Thirdweb among others, to enhance the infrastructure. The 3rd and final stage will see G7 becoming an open permissionless gaming network.

In addition, Game7 has unveiled its tokenomics for the forthcoming G7 token. Used as the native currency powering the G7 infrastructure, it will also be used across its games’ marketplaces as well as give governance power within the Game7 ecosystem. The G7 token is set to launch sometime in 2025.
